A Book In 30 Days — Day 4
Chapter 1 Part 3: Ambition… What is it? Why I DREAM.
Continued from Part 2 and Part 1
Being the Responsible One meant it was up to me to fix the world.
I didn’t see this as any type of arrogance, or even confidence.
This was just an extension of my responsibilities.
As the eldest boy, I had to be sure I’d be ready at a moment’s notice to provide for my family if my parents became indisposed. But I refused to let my siblings and parents suffer the throws of poverty if I ever became ‘man of the house.’ So I refused to go the regular path, which would result in subpar finances. I bet big. Sacrificed short term gain for long term investments that still haven’t paid off yet…
As the dreamer, I was granted a power to think on a larger scale than most people. A power bestowed upon me by God.. the universe.. fate.. I dont know… All I know is that my dreams had to exist in the world.
As the Responsible One, it was my Duty.. my Noblesse Oblige, to make use of my Ambition,.. to make these dreams happen.
You see, at this point in my life, I realized the importance of Ambition… beyond myself.
I realized that Ambition wasn’t just for me, nor was it common for others. Ambition only came to those who were worthy of changing the world. By worthy I mean crazy, smart, driven, and delusuinally disillusioned enough to believe they can actually, truly Change. The. World.
Or maybe only those who change the world are the Ambitious ones.
Eirher way, I realized that not many people had dreams like I did. Very few people dreamt of hovercars and becoming inventors of revolutionary tools and overturning every bullcrap system they come across. Fewer still retain these dreams past childhood… much less into adulthood.
But I did.
Just like all those greats; like Einstein, Edison, Elon…
They never let ‘reality’ or ‘impossible’ stop them from completely changing how we see the world.. and the universe.
Their persistence. Their humility. Their noncontrarian paths…Their ideas… these are all things I realized I had. I figured I was halfway there. I just needed to start; to build prototypes. I had half a dozen different hovercar designs,… but just modeling them was hard.
Harder than I thought it should be.
Thus why I became ao interested in tech… to work around these problems. To make it easier for other people to visualize their ambitions.
But of course I had no idea how much went into building something like that. I didnt know how much went into anything…
Thus why I could dream… I didnt know know the limits of whats supposed to be impossible.
My Ambition was my way of taking responsibility for the world.
…
Thus why I DREAM
I Dream to Demand… more from myself and of the world
I Dream to Remember… the history that brought us here and that holds the answers on what (not) to do
I Dream to Energize… myself enough to make moves and do things
I Dream to Accept… what needs to be done and where people are at now
I Dream to Make… cooler, better, more efficient and positive changes
I Dream to DREAM a better world.
Tl;dr: Ambition is my bestest friend, my duty, and my salvation. I dream about the future; a time where/when the world is inspiring, empowering, and magical… and not just for the rich or a specific group… to everyone.
That concludes Chapter 1!
Stay tuned for Day 6!!
