Fusing design with construction
An idea for easy interior renovations
The other day I was working on the business side of our virtual reality arcade, and we got to talking about how we’d redesign our new site once we expand.
But as we looked around for interior designs and decor that would create the theme we wanted to portray… we just couldn’t find an affordable solution. At least not something we could reasonably throw up ourselves without too much cost in terms of resources or manpower.
I think there are some major breakthroughs that need to and can be had in the way of prepared, easily rolled out decor.
Everything from cool futuristic LED-ladden ceiling designs to elegant furniture should be available as products, or even well documented DIY projects.
With such a project, one could easily deck out or switch up their office space or store without having to pay thousands just for a design consultation and then more for construction.
It is important to note that I don’t mean individual pieces that you may or may not be able to piece together into a themed room. Or even a pre-designed set of furniture. I mean a whole, customizable, floor-to-ceiling style that can be laid out to quickly transform a space. The only major cost should be the material; which can be flexed to each budget, from foam core board to recycled materials to cutting edge super materials.
I originally thought of this for commercial use. To change large workspaces and renovate storefront businesses easily and affordably.. But ofc such a thing could also be used for home renovations as well!
I know this isn’t nearly as simple as I am describing. But twould be an amazing and powerful tool nonetheless!!
Here’s to the future…
